TMT steel bars is undoubtedly one of the most essential components in the construction of the house of your dreams. The Indian building industry relied on employing concrete and iron bars to build houses before the invention of rebars. Both concrete and iron rods have drawbacks and have eventually proved to be not suitable for building purposes. All thanks to technology, and today we have TMT steel bars to serve our purpose. In every construction process today, TMT steel bars have become a ubiquitous presence as it provides the structure more strength and resilience. The growing demand of steel bars with better quality and ductility is he driving force behind the advancements happening in the steel industry. And this 21st century has seen a dramatic rise in the price of steel products as well as a greater emphasis on the quality and standards. As technology is skyrocketing at a faster pace, they bring umpteen benefits to us and like that we have now TMT steel bars variants like Fe 500, Fe 500D and many more. And it is true that we are the leading suppliers of the most advanced, quality and best TMT steel bars.
Fe 500 Grade TMT Steel Bars
The Fe 500 grade variant is majorly considered as the market standard throughout most of the building projects. This variant is renowned for being the engineer’s choice as it serves the objectives of stability, seismic security and ductility. These have high tensile strength and can be used for a wide range of endeavours.
Fe 550 D Grade TMT Steel Bars
Fe 550 D Grade variant is one of the most lauded TMT Steel bars in the industry. These are well suited for skyscrapers and other constructions that must support heavy loads.
The Advantages of Using Fe 500 D Grade TMT Bars
- High ductility – The Fe 500 D Grade TMT Bar is highly ductile with an elasticity and endurance of about 12 % to 18%
- Durable – The Fe 500 D GradeTMT Steel bars are exceptionally strong and have a yield of 500 N/mm2 (Fe 500D).
- Earthquake resistant – The Fe 500 D Grade TMT Steel bars are suitable for the construction in seismic zones 3, 4, and 5 as they can endure reactive and seismic stress.
- Flexibility – The Fe 500 D graded TMT bars are highly malleable and resilient and can tolerate stress due to variations in temperature and adverse weather conditions as they consist of low sulphur, carbon and phosphorous contents.
- Corrosion Resistance – Incorporating low alloy elements like Nickel, Chromium, Phosphorous and Copper while process of steel making enhances the corrosion resistance of the Fe 500 D Graded TMT Steel bars.
The Advantages of Using Fe 550 D Grade TMT Bars
- Tensile – The yield and tensile strength of 550 D Grade TMT Steel bars are better than the 550 Grade. Therefore, it is best suited for huge constructions like towers, dams, flyovers etc.
- Flexibility – The 550D Grade TMT Steel bar’s excellent flexibility, aids in surviving severe seismic activity.
- Pocket Friendly – Due to its outstanding strength the 550 D Grade TMT bars are very cost effective as the number of bars required will be less in number and thereby reducing the labour cost tremendously. It thus in turn helps in decreasing the out of pocket expenditure.
- Weldability – The 550 D TMT Bars are renowned for its amazing weldability feature.
- Durability— The 550 D TMT bars contains less amount of sulphur, phosphorous and carbon which in turn helps in the resilience of the bars in fluctuating temperature conditions, thereby improving the building’s durability.
- Corrosion resistance – The 550 D grade TMT steel bars have the capability to withstand corrosion

The Manufacturing Process of Fe 550 and Fe 550 D TMT Steel Bar
The TMT steel bars of Prince TMT Steels Pvt. Ltd are produced through intricated and sophisticated 5 step production procedure in our automated rolling mill. Let’s have a sneak peek into how the process is done.
1. Iron Ore Processing
The very first step of the procedure is the processing of unprocessed components with the help of a furnace. Subsequently the contaminants trapped inside the iron ore are removed using the method of beneficiation. Later, using the methods like ladle heating and pre treatment the conversion of steel occurs.
2. Moulding and Producing Billets
In this process the casting machine is filled with molten steel and is heated at a temperature of 1200 degree Celsius. Then the billet is sculpted into rebars in a rolling mill stand.
3. Quenching
This is the phase where thermomechanical treatment begins. Here the rebars are subjected to a process called Quenching, where hot bars are sprayed with water. This process is done so as to improve the strength of the outer material of the bar while making sure the core of the bar stays smooth.
4. Self-Tempering
This process involves the transferring the heat of the core towards the outer surface of the bars which in turn will enhance the strength and toughness of the bars.
5. Atmospheric Cooling
Ultimately, the steel bars are subsequently sent on to an automatic cooling bed where the bars are allowed to cool. The method helps to make a balance between the temperature of the outer part and the inner part of the steel bars. And finally, the complete finished product is out for sale.
It will not be a brag to say that TMT bars are the bedrocks of our everyday lives – from the houses that we thrive in to the offices that we work, to the flyovers and bridges we Passover in our journeys—majority of al the most modern buildings get their power from TMT bars.
